The first appearance of the man known as The Baron has been written many times. But as i know it…it was a fateful morning and an unnannounced early morning knock at the door.

“I’m here, Holgate!” he proclaimed.

The lights flickered nervously, dimmed, then suddenly popped as he crossed the threshold, and as he sank into my fairly cheap Ikea sofa (His bed for the next three nights) they burst into life again…seemingly brighter than before. He somehow found 2 litres of Blue Curacao (Was it even in my cupboards?!), consumed it…and that night we discussed harmonic minor scales and the power chord like they were high school memories.

And that was just the beginning.

Like a cosmic high priest of metal and art combined The Baron brings a sensibility to his work unparalleled in our dimension.

If your gang of swarthy misanthropes needs an appropriately intimidating logo, I was you i’d knock on the Baron’s bedchamber and lock down his services. Need to take the local throng of hipsters down a few pegs? Then you need to hit them with a full face onslaught of design fury from the canon of The Baron that not even THEIR unceasing ability to find irony in everything could cope with. Want you mum to remember what you got her on mothers day? The Baron’s skills at dubiously slipping a cunning euphemism into your mummy’s full cream babycinno (if you know what i mean) will bring a coy curl of the lips to even the frostiest of Maters.

So before he passes us by forever, to continue his never ending journey through the art/design ionosphere and taking his much needed skills to OTHER humanoid beings, history will remember you if you take but one moment to have the Baron improve your visual aesthetic. Because god knows we all need it.

+ Spent late last week hanging out with the guys from Broken Hill City Council, helping out with some presentation materials for an upcoming film conference. In the months ahead, we’ll be looking at the Council’s various website and social media requirements, not to mention some other stuff we are not at liberty to discuss.

+ Knocked off some THQ Games video edits and retags for Frontier. Upcoming titles worked on include UFC 2010, Toy Story 3 and All Star Karate.

+ We also caught up with our old buds at The Kingdom; we’ll be helping them out with new new additions to their site, then rolling up the sleeves and putting together a new blog and social media presence for ‘em.

+ Had the pleasure of meeting the lovely gang at Glam Adelaide; go check ‘em out for all the latest South Australia-centric news, culture and events information you can handle.

+ You should be starting to see some teases for this year’s Falls Festival in the next month or so, also; we put together some merch designs recently, and everyone’s super chuffed thus far.

We’ll be rolling out OzAutoElectrical, the new Writer’s Block viral campaign, and probably a whole load of other stuff I’ve forgotten over the coming weeks, too.

I‘ve worked with the Baron steadily over the course of a decade. It’s like bringing a gun to a knife fight. He brings a hangman’s sense of detail welded to a ferocious signature style. Professional as a stiletto blade, brave as a wolf, he’s a callous-handed workman with an eye on the angels. I don’t make a move without him and, listen, neither should you. Dig?

The Blaster guys make life in the fast lane (online) just seem easy. They make spending 10 hours a day staring down the portal to hell (le computer) way more interesting; and like watching a Martha Stewart bake-aoff (sans the incarceration), they make it look so goddamn easy and fun! Since working with the guys, the festival’s online capabilities have gone gangbusters, our merchandise has never looked swankier and the art and branding of the event has a new and visionary edge. Thanks to the UTD crew for the good times, the saviour moments, the advice and the unwavering grace and assistance in moments of online despair and incredulity. And I still owe you guys a couple more whiskeys…

We shot, roto’d and painstakingly hand painted this fucker frame by frame- groove on the ever impressive MPEG-2 filtered through early Youtube compression hell glory:

To whom it may concern…man, woman or other,

When it came time to join the 21st Century and finally have a website that represented all my insane ramblings, counter culture time bombs and “wish I hadn’t written that when I was drunk” posts, I looked far and wide for a team of internet boffins that could make me look groovy to the young while pampering to my out of date old man skills.

I came across Blaster United one night as their leader (or at least the one who claimed to be their leader) hid amongst the flotsam jetsam of riff raff that fill the streets when no one is looking.

We talked about many things nerdy and cool; relevant and irrelevant; hip and gaudy. Our conversation resembled an episode of “Home and Away” as directed by David Lynch and by the end of it I’d signed my life and site away with the blood of the dude sitting next to me at the bar. (There is no way I would use my own blood…I’m afraid of needles and blood…a typical comedian in other words.)

Over the next couple of weeks the leader and his team of merry Blasters took my vague ideas and fantastical wishes; slowly transforming them into a site that not only made me look way cooler than I ever hoped to be but also gave it the steering capabilities even an idiot man child could handle. In fact they proved to me how easy it was to navigate by time travelling a member of Homo Erectus from the past, let him (or her) play with it for a second and by the end I had my first blog written without a second thought. From there I felt positive that I could master this site from the future and have continued to use it without accidentally locking up the site anymore than twice.

Blaster-United are the future of cool sites and manipulation of the time/space continuum often referred to as the Internet. They make it easy for the uneducated and make it progressive for those who don’t deserve to be. Imagine slapping some make up on Grandma and then thinking you wouldn’t mind having a crack.

That is the power of Blaster-United.

Lets hope they use their power for good.
